Economic Development

The EMBDC markets Meridian and Lauderdale County on a global scale and works with city, county, and state officials to retain and create jobs that improve the quality of life for all of us.

Networking

"People do business with people they know. "The EMBDC holds "Business Before Hours" on the second Tuesday every other month. This event brings the EMBDC membership together to hear speakers share ideas relevant to our community. Attendance averages more than 150 people.

"Business After Hours" is held every other month on the second Thursday and offers members an opportunity to tour local businesses and learn about their products and services. Attendance averages 100 to 200 people.

The Main Event Business and Industry Expo occurs annually on the fourth Thursday in April. The event affords area businesses and industries the opportunity to showcase products and services, meet and recruit customers, and network with other business professionals. Attendance averages between 3500 and 4000 people.

Referrals

The EMBDC receives hundreds of calls each month and welcomes many walk-ins daily. EMBDC members are referred through brochures, verbal communications and in response to inquiries.

Newsletter

Members receive an informative newsletter which highlights activities and accomplishments of the EMBDC and its volunteers.

Membership Directory

The attractive handbook of information lists members three different ways for quick reference: (1) alpha by company, (2) alpha by individual and (3) category listing. A member may also choose to be listed in up to three categories of their choice. This publication is widely circulated to all EMBDC members, visitors, tourists and prospective businesses considering locating to Meridian.

Serve on a Committee

Share your expertise and knowledge to affect change in our community while broadening your contacts for business. The EMBDC has opportunities for members to serve on committees involving main issues important to our shared growth.

Advertising

Only members may advertise in EMBDC publications including the Membership Directory, and the Meridian/Lauderdale County Map.

Sponsorships

Opportunities exist throughout the year to sponsor EMBDC events. Member sponsored events include EMBDC Golf Classic, Meridian Day at Neshoba County Fair, Annual Meeting, Business Before Hours and Business After Hours.

Ribbon Cuttings/Groudbreakings

The EMBDC hosts many ribbon cutting and ground-breaking services at no charge for EMBDC members. This includes preparing an agenda and providing a PA system, ribbon with bow, big scissors and shovels. EMBDC also provides a master of ceremonies and contacts all local media for coverage. Attendance ranges from 25 to 50 people.

Leadership Lauderdale

This program contributes greatly to the development of community leaders who are willing to embrace "head on" the problems and promises facing Lauderdale County. It is jointly sponsored by the EMBDC, MCC and the Meridian Public Schools.

Meridian Area Navy League

Staffed by the EMBDC, this group strengthens the ties between NAS Meridian and the community. Vital to our economy, the base provides an annual payroll of $43 million and employs more than 3500 people.

Meridian Military Team

The EMBDC provides assistance to this group as needed, such as maintaining financial records and coordinating events hosting military dignitaries.

New Residents List

By request, members may receive a weekly list of all new residents who contact the EMBDC about relocating to Meridian.

This handsome wood plaque allows you to display your EMBDC membership with pride.

Mailing Lists and Labels

Target your market within the EMBDC. It is more cost efficient and will save you money by reaching customers through a proven direct mail list. In addition, the EMBDC offers free bulk mail service to over 1400 contacts for members who provide folded pamphlets within the specified time lines.

Notary Public

Members may have documents notarized at the EMBDC office at no charge.

Lauderdale County Community Development Clubs

The EMBDC staff works with seven Community Development Clubs to enhance the quality of life in the surrounding area.
