Leadership Lauderdale Graduation

The EMBDC held the graduation ceremony for the 2008-2009 Leadership Lauderdale class on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 7:30 a.m. at MSU Kahlmus Auditorium.  Leadership Lauderdale is a 9 month course that provides the opportunity for a diverse group to learn about themselves (developing interpersonal skills) and their community; to be introduced to leadership skills and how they use these skills to benefit themselves, their company and their community.  Secondly, participants discovered how they can build teams to impact their community by assessing and meeting needs to open doors to potential successes.

Cheri Barry, Mayor Elect, was the keynote speaker for the Leadership Lauderdale graduation.  She spoke about the importance of leadership and the characteristics a leader must possess.  Additionally, Ms. Barry emphasized that she looks forward to working with the leadership class in order to bring Meridian into a better and brighter future.
