Recognized as the center of East Mississippi and West Alabama, Meridian is located within 1 day’s drive of 55% of the US population at the intersection of two major interstates: I-20 and I-59 and five US highways: Hwy 80 (soon to be I-85), Hwy 45, Hwy 39, Hwy 11 and Hwy 19.
In 2002 and updated in 2005, the Wadley-Donovan Group completed a labor market analysis for Meridian and Lauderdale County. General findings of the study concluded:

Lauderdale County can easily support new and expanding manufacturing, distribution, and back office operations.

Entry, mid-level and skilled employees are readily available to new and expanding industries.

Employees in Meridian/Lauderdale County were found to be loyal, dedicated, and productive.

Companies should find no difficulty in recruiting and training a top notch workforce.

Production, distribution, and clerical workers are in good supply, and most firms fill job openings through walk-ins, referrals and word of mouth.

Managerial, professional, and technical staff is generally recruited locally with little need for external recruitment.

The County’s extensive manufacturing base and training institutions generally provide sufficient skilled workers to fuel the growth of area manufacturing and distribution companies.

Lauderdale County employers indicate the area’s high quality of life, reasonable living costs, and low crime rate make it an attractive business location.
