Aldersgate Retirement Community

‘Aldersgate is my live-in resort!’  ‘An exciting place to live!’ ‘Good food, fantastic friends, activities, security, parties, and entertainment.’   ‘My mother lived there for ten years and I plan to move in myself!’  These are just a few of the comments residents and family make about Aldersgate. 

Aldersgate’s first apartment building was built in 1986 and now there are 120 apartments, two and three bedroom Independent Cottages, and 54 assisted living apartments on beautifully landscaped grounds.  You can live totally independently or rely on the services offered by Aldersgate; meals, medication monitoring, daily housekeeping and assistance with bathing and grooming.  Recreational, educational, pastoral care, transportation and cultural programs are offered on a daily basis.  The board is working on plans for future growth of the campus, including a chapel and a greenhouse. 

There are presently 190 residents at Aldersgate.  The focus is not on making a profit, but making sure their elders are safely cared for; serving in a spirit of Christian love.  A part of Methodist Senior Services, they are a ministry dedicated to service.  They welcome volunteers and in the past year, had over 1500 hours of service volunteered.  “We love connecting generations and want to turn around and serve our community.  We raised $2000 through bake sales and garage sales for Alzheimer Support,” says Lawona Broadfoot, Executive Director.  “We partner with Rotary Club, go to schools, read to students and mentor students via facetime.” 

Aldersgate and their residents love being a part of the Meridian/Lauderdale County community.  They are a member of EMBDC because it is an excellent way to keep connected and to support the community.  Networking is important and the EMBDC offers many networking opportunities.
