Alliance Health Center

“Puppies are nature’s remedy for the numerous ailments of life.”

Have you seen the cute blond golden doodle Bennett, from Alliance?  He is a trained therapy dog who specializes in bringing comfort and happiness through a big doggy smile.  He’s just one of the therapists at Alliance.  They have many doctors, nurses, counselors and therapists to help you in times of need.

Alliance Health Center first began in 1961 as St. Joseph’s Hospital providing inpatient hospitalization for surgeries and medical/physical illnesses.  In the early 1970’s, the psychiatry department was opened.  In 1977, it was renamed Meridian Regional Hospital.  By 1989, Alliance Health Center became a free standing psychiatric and drug/alcohol facility.

Serving hundreds of people daily, Alliance is the most robust behavioral health system in the state.  They provide regional care throughout the Southeast.  While they receive patients from all over, their primary focus is our community in Meridian/Lauderdale County. They constantly evaluate to see how they can better fit the needs of this community.  That’s why they feel being a member of the Chamber is important; to partner with other businesses and be a resource for this area.

With a staff of approximately 200 employees, they offer medical detox, geriatric services, and psych services for adults and youth.  New Leaf Recovery, a drug and alcohol rehab and sober living facility, is also a program offered by Alliance. They recently completed the rebuilding of the facility and will have a ribbon cutting to celebrate the New Leaf Recovery facility October 24th.

Hope, healing and recovery is the mission of Alliance Health Center.  They constantly receive letters and calls from people saying Alliance changed their lives.  And petting that cute dog is an added bonus.  Remember, when a dog looks at you, he just offers love.  Alliance offers hope.
