Remember when we had to take our garbage to those Green Boxes placed throughout the county? They were supposed to make waste disposal more convenient for the homeowner and they did. Unfortunately, when they got full, people continued to unload garbage on top and around them, creating an overflowing mess. They also dumped old furniture and other miscellaneous items, making them an unsightly problem. ADSI came along and converted Lauderdale County from “Green Box” convenience centers to curbside garbage collection. Now, all you have to do is put your garbage container out at the curb on designated days and everything is disposed of for you. 

In 1995, the company “Urrutia, Incorporated”, named after founder Richard Urrutia, was begun.  The company became a major contender in the solid waste collection industry by emphasizing a ‘service first’ philosophy and evolved into one of the largest privately held solid waste companies in Alabama. Outside investors recognized the value of the company and in 2007, acquired the company. 

Five years later, Mr. Urrutia, intent on duplicating his prior success in the solid waste collection industry, assembled an experienced corporate team and founded Arrow Disposal Service, Inc. (ADSI). The mission of ADSI is to bring SERVICE back to the waste hauling and collection industry. Its staff believes in that almost forgotten cliché; that a job worth doing is a job worth doing well. ADSI has been rewarded for commitment to that belief by being selected on multiple occasions as the winning proponent in a competitive proposal process at a rate higher than that of its competition. Those contract awards were based on the lowest and best proposals submitted; best because of SERVICE.

People are the most important asset at ADSI. With approximately 200 years of combined work experience, the staff can effectively and efficiently handle any customer issue relating to the collection and disposal of solid waste. All customers are treated, not just as a name on a list, but as an ADSI partner.

Specializing in residential curbside solid waste collection, ADSI currently services approximately 180,000 households, ranging in contract size from 250 units to over 14,000. The company is committed to redistributing funds back into the communities it serves by establishing local offices, hiring local residents, and purchasing fuel, tire and other needed items from local vendors, whenever feasible.
