Beyond Therapy for Kids, Meridian

To Inspire and Empower the Lives We Touch

A young child who has cerebral palsy has difficulty learning to dress himself because of limitations in movement and coordination. With his parents, an occupational therapist plans a program to teach the most efficient methods for dressing. Changes to clothing, such as the addition of Velcro closures or elastic shoelaces, may be used to adapt the activity. Therapists teach patients better ways of doing things, according to their abilities.

The dynamic team at Beyond Therapy consists of a group of speech language pathologists, physical therapists and occupational therapists. Each are uniquely skilled in creating evidence-based therapy interventions that seem like play and are fun for children! They are the place where therapy meets play.

Known as Beyond Play in 2005, this small home health company quickly grew into an interdisciplinary clinic known today as Beyond Therapy for Kids. Since the beginning, the company has continued to offer comprehensive pediatric services using the most advanced treatment approaches. Beyond Therapy quickly became one of the state’s largest pediatric therapy clinics with state-of-the-art facilities; designed by therapists for therapy. Their success comes from a culture that puts children ages 0-21 and their families first by designing individual treatment plans. They strive to provide an inclusive environment where differences are celebrated for the value they bring to communities, patients and teammates. They commit to continue to focus on diversifying every level of the workforce accordingly.

Leah Graham, Clinic Director and Occupational Therapist says, “We opened our branch of Beyond Therapy for Kids in Meridian in August, 2020, a stand-alone pediatric outpatient therapy clinic. We offer one-on-one therapeutic intervention in the areas of physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The clinic includes a full kid-friendly gym, sensory room, and individual treatment rooms to ensure specialized, quality care for each child we serve. Your child can receive services in our outpatient clinic even if they receive speech, physical, and/or occupational therapy through their school.”

There are currently only four Beyond Therapy clinics in the state of Mississippi, Ridgeland, Tupelo, Hattiesburg, and Meridian. Mrs. Graham, a native of Quitman says, “I love being back close to home and offering this needed service to ‘my’ people. I want to be a part of positive growth in Meridian, so I am a member of the chamber. I also want to assist neuro-divergent children in progressing toward their highest level of independence and potential. Our philosophy of care is dedicated to consistently providing our patients with the best care and service humanly possible. Our purpose is centered on our patients, not ourselves, ensuring we always do what is in their best interest.”

One grateful PT patient said, “Great place for physical therapy – they are a wonderful group of highly-trained physical therapists that eliminate pain and give you the tools you need to remain pain-free.”
