Pleasing each Customer
It’s a tale as old as marriage itself - the bride and groom gather their guests around them, the beautiful wedding cake is sliced, and, suddenly, frosting ends up smeared across the faces of both husband and wife! Where did this strange custom originate? Traditionally, couples feed each other cake to symbolize their commitment to provide for each other. A sweet gesture, but there’s a mischievous part of the tradition that appears much more often in history.
Ancient Roman wedding ceremonies were finalized by breaking a cake of wheat or barley over the bride’s head as a symbol of fertility and good fortune. The newly married couple then ate a few crumbs and afterwards, the wedding guests gathered up the crumbs as tokens of good luck. Weddings have always been celebrated with a special cake, and Carolyn’s Creations has been creating and providing beautiful wedding cakes for people in this area since 1977.
Carolyn’s specialties have always been wedding cakes and providing beautiful flowers for parties and other events. After planning events like weddings, corporate dinners and other special occasions for 43 years, when COVID hit, they recognized the need to change their focus. They moved from catering events to cooking casseroles and dinners for their customers. That’s how you operate a successful business; by being versatile, thinking outside the box and rising to the challenge of unexpected circumstances.
Even now, people still need birthday cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. “We’ve used Carolyn’s Creations for several years and will continue to do so. We order cupcakes on our kids’ birthdays and they are
moist, taste great and look amazing. I’d highly recommend her.” “I’ve been using Caroline’s Creations for event cakes and catering for years! The woodland birthday cake they made for my husband’s birthday was WONDERFUL!!! Design was beautiful and the taste was great!” These are just some of the great reviews of Carolyn’s Creations over the years.
“Being a third generation, family owned and operated business, we love the community feeling that Meridian offers. We know most of our customers by name. In a bigger city, that would not be possible,” says Lori Judy, Vice President. “We joined the chamber to be better able to know other business owners, swap ideas and help grow the community.”
For people planning a wedding, a corporate dinner, or any special occasion, it is easier when you work with one vendor who offers multiple services. “We have received many compliments over the years,” says Lori. “Just this past week, the bride and groom that we catered and created the cakes for said, ‘You guys get 5 stars! It was perfect!!’”
