Cater's Market

Cater’s Market opened in 2006, when Jamie Cater realized, due to the popularity of the Food Network, Meridian needed a gourmet specialty food store.  “I started out selling specialty spices, dips, cheese and other hard to find items.  I started cooking and making sandwiches and my specialty shop turned into a restaurant,” says Jamie.  “We now offer fresh, delicious sandwiches, soups, salads, hot plates, coffees, desserts, casseroles, and more.”

Most people don’t realize Cater’s serves a delicious breakfast with a full service coffee bar. They host bridge groups as well as bridal and baby showers. They also carry specialty gourmet grocery items and gifts; “gourmet to go”!  Cater’s has a small plate menu in the afternoon and offers wine and beer.  They love to cater and can deliver to breakfast and lunch groups with a varied menu designed to please.  Saturdays, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., they even offer brunch with sparkling mimosas!

Jamie continues, “Meridian is my hometown.  I love the people; we feel like the whole town comes in throughout the day.  We often get sweet notes from customers and people just passing through town make a point to come by. Our regular customers say all the time how important Cater’s is to them.  It’s the nicest feeling when Navy couples are moving and tell me Cater’s will be what they will miss most.  I feel like we offer a fresh food alternative in a friendly atmosphere.”

Jamie’s advice to new business owners is that to be successful, you have to be there. And surround yourself with great staff.  “I think we provide excellent customer service and our recipes have a personal touch.  I believe in supporting my community and think the Chamber is a great network for business owners,” she says.
