Great Food and Gatherings
You can leave Mississippi, but Mississippi never leaves you. At least that’s what Marshall and Mary Gilmore discovered. Marshall, owner/chef, of Harvest Grill, grew up in Meridian, then moved away for 10 years. He trained as a chef in Hawaii and Colorado before going to culinary school in Denver. After he and Mary had a baby, they wanted to move back to Meridian and raise their family here. And, they wanted to have a restaurant, bringing a new, contemporary vibe to Meridian, with cross-country cuisine.
For years, he had returned home annually, for a reunion with his hometown buddies. It always turned into a feast with good food and good friends. They started calling their reunion, the Harvest. After one of those visits, a friend mentioned a Meridian restaurant his company wanted to renovate, the old Davis Grill, that had been closed for years and years. Mary and Marshall flew into town to investigate, and as soon as they walked in, they knew this was their place. So they decided to put Harvest and Grill together and in 2014, opened Harvest Grill.
“We’re a full-service restaurant open for lunch/dinner and we offer catering. Our food is inventive, fun, healthy and affordable, with fresh, unique recipes all made in-house. And good. Really, really good. Our small staff pays attention to detail and treats everyone like family. Our food and atmosphere can compare to any well-known restaurant in larger cities like Chicago, Charleston, or Dallas. We buy local produce as much as possible, with all our sauces, sides, sausage, everything, being made from scratch,” says Marshall.

“We love being back in a small, supportive community and seeing customers celebrate all occasions,” he added. “We’re not a big corporation. We’re just family and friends working on a dream. So everything that comes from our kitchen also comes from our hearts. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”
