“Our product is service, our strength is people”

What is a call center?  A call center is an office that fields incoming and outgoing customer phone calls. Call center representatives provide customers with an alternative communication channel to report service inquiries.  Rather than writing an email or traveling to a store, customers can simply pick up the phone, tell an agent their problem and receive a resolution. According to statistics, 44% of Americans prefer this type of support over other mediums as it provides immediate service and personalized solutions.

Founded in 1998, iQor is a global provider of customer care interactions, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solutions, supporting a wide variety of industries from financial services to consumer electronics and telecommunications.  They support clients like AT&T, DIRECTV, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile, to name a few.  Their global footprint is 45,000 employees strong, located in 60 facilities throughout North America, Europe and Asia, with corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida.  And one of those 60 call centers is here, in Meridian.

In 2008, National Electronics Warranty (NEW)’s search committee visited Meridian as a potential second MS site, after success in Tupelo.  “The committee experienced Meridian’s warm hospitality and welcoming atmosphere while staying in local hotels and dining in area restaurants.  After meeting with the EMBDC, MCC and local community leaders, the decision to open the Meridian facility was confirmed.  The EMBDC along with Meridian Community College and the WIN Job center, played an integral role in solidifying this decision,” says Kathy Null, Recruiter.  By partnering with MCC and WIN, workforce training and solutions were put into motion resulting in a rapid hiring initiative to hire and train the first 100 employees. “We currently employ over 200 people in our state of the art 25,000 square foot facility, with plans to increase total employment to 400,” added Null.  In 2014, NEW was purchased by Asurion and shortly thereafter, iQor.

“The responsiveness and support we receive from EMBDC and the Workforce Development Program at MCC, allows us to meet our ever changing workforce needs.  This support and training development has greatly contributed to our ongoing success.  iQor is committed to community involvement and being an active member of EMBDC.  We want to stay connected with the community and be supportive of the growth and development of the Meridian area.  We are invested in being a part of what makes Meridian such a dynamic place to live and thrive.  The Chamber helps keep us informed and connected.  As we continue to grow and expand, iQor is counting on the partnership and support of the community, EMBDC, and MCC to ensure we have the best trained readily available workforce to meet ongoing business needs,” states Null.

iQor is proud of the fact that numerous Meridian employees have been promoted and transferred to other locations throughout the United States.  iQor Meridian consistently ranks within the top five call centers for the organization by achieving top customer satisfaction scores.  They are also the number one site in the enterprise for filling open jobs and meeting staffing expectations.  As iQor enters its 12th year of operation in Meridian, they are pleased to announce their commitment to staying in Meridian, and look forward to adding new clients and creating more growth opportunities for the Meridian workforce.
