Magnolia Green was founded in April, 2009, by Robby Pickett, a state licensed Landscape Architect.  At the time, the economy was in the pits and no one was hiring a landscape architect.  So, Robby, living in Florida at the time, moved back home to start a company he had not planned to start until later in life.  “Meridian is home,” Robby Pickett, said.  “Don’t get me wrong; South Florida and the beaches were great, but it wasn’t home.  It was a great feeling to come back to Lauderdale County and start a new business.  People here are down to earth,” he added.

Robby offers this advice to others wanting to start their own business.  Find a mentor, someone you trust and that has experience in what you want to do.  Don’t think you know it all; you never will…always keep learning.  Be punctual and do what you say you are going to do; even if it means you are going to lose money on the job.  Learn from that and keep your word and integrity.  Be a professional in whatever you choose to do.  Join the Chamber.  Connecting with other business owners and networking to keep your name out there is extremely important to your company. 

“Landscape maintenance is a low level entry business that anyone can get into, but we want to offer more than cutting your grass.  We offer a one-stop professional and educated choice in outdoor improvement.  Whether it be maintenance or an install project, we bring the same level of expertise and attention to detail to each job.  It is something we constantly talk about with our team,” Robby says.
