Good Food Brings People Together

Nearly three decades ago, a dentist from Oxford, Mississippi, had a vision to turn an abandoned movie-set diner into a small, yet charming neighborhood restaurant and gathering place. That vision became a reality when the first McAlister’s opened its doors in 1989. The menu then would still feel familiar today packed with the craveable sandwiches, spuds and salads they’re known for – and of course, that famous McAlister’s Sweet Tea. There is nothing fried on the menu, all meats and salads are prepared fresh every day. 

McAlister’s offers casual dining with Southern hospitality, and now offers catering services. Using all locations, they have catered for over 5,000 in one week. They have breakfast catering also, with croissants, platters, fruit trays, muffins, and danish available. This year, McAlister’s will open their 500th store and are hiring team members and expanding their catering menu. McAlister’s will personally deliver catering orders over $100.  There is a new app where you can order online and don’t even have to come in the store. By using the app you can earn points toward free items.   

 

 

Billy Hopkins, Bonita Lakes location General Manager, says, “We love working with the Meridian/Lauderdale County community. The people have backed us 100% since we have been here, so we try to give back by working with schools and organizations. Three things we believe in is investing in our people, scheduling for growth, and getting involved with the community. We belong to the chamber because the chamber is the lifeline between us and the community.”

“Just last week, a couple came in who were traveling in the United States. They told us we had the best food and hospitality of the seven states they had already been in. They then asked for a map so they could visit other McAlister locations. I’ve already gotten two postcards back from them!”

So, from last minute meetings, catering needs, celebrations big and small, or a very enjoyable club sandwich for lunch, think McAlister’s Deli.
