Meridian Sounds Amazing
There is so much to love about Meridian: good homes, good schools, delicious food, fabulous fashion, good jobs, strong community partners, and high-level healthcare. Doesn’t that sound amazing? Yes, Meridian Sounds Amazing! “At the Meridian Symphony Association, we have come to realize that during the last sixty years the beautiful harmony between the old and new resounds in our city,” says Carra K. Purvis, Executive Director. “Our new community campaign, #MeridianSounds, is an initiative to unite Meridian’s residents, businesses, and community organizations through one shared interest: the celebration of our city. To our restaurants, maybe #MeridianSoundsDelicious. To our small business owners, maybe #MeridianSoundsSupportive. To our community members, maybe #MeridianSoundsLikeHome. To us, #MeridianSoundsAmazing!”
The Meridian Symphony Association encompasses the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, Meridian Symphony Chorus, and Symphony Sounds Education & Community Engagement Programs. MSA’s concerts and programs contribute to Meridian’s economic development. Not only do these programs lift our community spirit, but they also put musicians and artists back to work, which in turn means more business for East Mississippi. Grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations are vital – they have an immediate impact on the plans and programs of the Symphony, but even greater, they have lasting effects on the economic recovery and long-term success of our community as a whole.
As one community member stated: “The MSO is a treasure for our community that requires our support! We all want the return on investment for our community that comes with economic development. Those living here and prospects looking to invest here want quality of life, including high quality entertainment like that of our symphony. It’s a must-have for our community.”
The Meridian Symphony Association is proud to support Meridian’s downtown economic development: Restart, Restore, Recover. It is extremely important to the MSA to give back to those
who have so generously supported us for many years, and to pour into those who are new and are making a difference in our community’s future. “The Meridian Symphony Association appreciates the EMBDC’s acknowledgment of the vital role the arts play as a driving force in the community’s economy and as a defining engine for its high quality of life,” adds Carra. “As the MSA begins its 60th Anniversary celebration, we thank you for the last sixty incredible years, and we are thrilled to walk into the next sixty with you by our side. We look forward to the future when we can once again be together – stronger and more vibrant than ever before!”
