New Beginnings Adult Day Care Services

Remember the movie, ‘Daddy Day Care with Eddie Murphy’?  Well, there is a sequel, ‘Grand Daddy Day Care’! Not really, but there is an alternative to your grandparents or parents having to leave their family home and move to a nursing home.  New Beginnings Day Care!  This company began in 2008 with the first location in Philadelphia, MS.  The Meridian location, 235 69^th Avenue, was established and opened in January, 2017.  Their service includes free transportation to and from the facility, nutritional services, therapeutic activities, community outings, health services, and social services.  New Beginnings also provides personal care services as well as respite services in the client’s own home.

“What we enjoy most about doing business in Meridian/Lauderdale County is that we make a difference in many people’s lives.  To be able to give back to the community, as many of our clients have done for so many years, is so satisfying.  Many of our clients grew up and were employed here, and we enjoy being able to assist them with their needs.  We provide them a safe environment where they can socialize with others and be an active part of a community,” says Michelle McCool, RN Administrator. 

And just like any daycare, they have fun!  “We’re able to care for the elderly and disabled while at the same time making new friends who become our family.  We play games, exercise, go on outings and eat!  We provide breakfast, lunch and snacks.  Nurses monitor their meds and if they see concerns, alert the family.  There are around 30 clients at New Beginnings now, and with a staff of nine, we can take more,” she adds. 

New Beginnings belongs to the chamber because they want to be a part of promoting the business and economic development in Meridian and Lauderdale County.  “We want to educate our community, families, and individuals to the fact that there is an option to alternative care,” states Amy Ivy, RN, Asst. Director.  “And publications like EMBDC’s ‘Member Spotlight’ helps greatly.”

New Beginnings considers their work as part of a ministry.  They believe that God will bless, because he knows your intentions and knows if you have a servant’s heart.  One customer said, “I will be forever grateful to you all.  I truly love the way you cared for my husband!  You guys have truly blessed me and my husband and for that we are extremely grateful.”
