Norman Enterprises

Plop! Plop! Plop!  That is one of the most unwelcome sounds ever heard when it’s pouring rain and your roof starts to leak at home or at work.  Who to call?  What to do?  Commercial or residential, give Norman Enterprises a call; they’ll know what to do.  Norman Roofing was established in 1977 by Mr. Charles Norman, Sr., grandfather of Tyler Norman.  Mr. Charles developed a reputation as being ‘the salt of the earth’.  Norman started out building houses and when the housing market took a downturn, he got into the roofing business.  He started as a residential roofer and later expanded to commercial buildings.  They have grown from a small residential contractor 40 years ago, to becoming one of the leading players in commercial roofing in Mississippi.

Norman’s sells and services roofing throughout Mississippi and Alabama.  They have one of the few full service departments in Mississippi for commercial roofing.  Service and preventative maintenance are a big part of their customer service approach.  They try to stay ahead of the curve and offer new products like high performance roof coatings and single poly PVC and TPO membranes.  Most roofing buyers are concerned about keeping their buildings dry and installing a roof system that will perform well for a long time.

“We get complimented often on how friendly and respectful our employees are.   My grandfather always preached that it was hard for people to get mad at someone who’s nice to them.    We try to honor that.  And over the years, we have built good relationships with local architects and contractors, economic development leaders, and business people.  We enjoy doing business with and for other companies here in Meridian,” states Tyler.

Norman Enterprises moved to a new location about two years ago and now has 40,000 square feet of warehouse and storage space to house materials and equipment.  Starting a new business or continuing a business means getting to know fellow business people.  Tyler says there is a very helpful atmosphere in the business community here in Meridian.  Colleagues have given him advice in the past that has really helped grow their business.  His best advice for new business owners is have a good banker, good insurance agent, and a good relationship with the business community.

“Because we think that relationship building and networking are vitally important to being successful here in East Mississippi, we belong to the Chamber.  I feel like a welcome and important part of EMBDC.  We need jobs and I believe in working with the business community and economic development community to make sure we have new industries locating here.  I think there are big things to come here in Meridian,” Norman concludes.
