Over the Moon Children's Boutique

Owners Brette Harman, Madison Campbell and Rachel Scarbrough laugh about how they came about naming their store, Over the Moon. “We went back and forth and did a lot of research. We wanted it to be children related and started going through nursery rhymes and the Cow Jumped Over the Moon came up. We loved ‘Over the Moon’ for the name.” They all have a passion for children’s clothing, because between the three of them, they have eight children, eight years of age and under. They were always going out of town to shop, knowing that was crazy and they needed to do something about it. 

In 2018, the three of them decided to open a children’s clothing store. They bravely took a leap of faith, went to market and started small. The rest is history. They now offer newborn, tween clothing, shoes, Bogg bags, and accessories. They also offer toys and gift items. 

Now at their second location, moving there in January 2019, they’ve tripled their space. They didn’t expect to expand so quickly but when the current location came open, they jumped on it. Knowing the Threefoot Hotel was coming and with business picking up in downtown, it was the perfect place to be. During the COVID shutdown, they were able to offer pickup service. “We strive to have the best customer service possible,” Brette said. “We like to help people dress their children and grandchildren. We do whatever we can to make everyone happy. People come here from all over to shop. Our website keeps us busy shipping daily to customers. People from as far away as New York, and Texas order from our website.” 

“But it’s our support from the local community that is most important. We have built relationships with our customers. We are now friends with people we didn’t know, who have other downtown businesses. Downtown is like a community here, and belonging to the chamber helps involve us in that community. The chamber allows us to be able to give back and do more,” says Rachel. ”It’s just the three of us running the business,” adds Rachel. “We don’t have additional staff. We all three went in 100%, working 24/7. It’s necessary for you to be available to your customers to build your business the way you want.”

“When I first saw the name of your shop, I just had to come in,” said a repeat customer. “It immediately made me think of what my aunt always said about someone falling in love, ‘They’re just over the moon about them’. And now, I’m over the moon about your children’s clothing store.”
