Structural Steel Services, Inc.

A partner in building communities

Structural Steel Services Inc, in Meridian, Mississippi is one of the largest industrial steel and bridge fabricators in the country with nearly one million square feet of production with fabrication up to 60,000 tons. They fabricate steel for large industrial facilities, i.e. natural gas power plants, nuclear facilities, Amazon distribution facilities, and major bridge projects. With state-of-the-art equipment, attention to design, engineering, detailing and on time delivery with total quality workmanship, Structural Steel Services is highly respected as one of the leading fabricators in the nation.

In 1975, Tommy Dulaney, plant manager for Bates Steel in Meridian, decided to strike out on his own. He started fabricating structural steel in a 12,000-square-foot shop, formerly a chicken house. Dulaney bought out Bates Steel in 1995, and now, four decades later, Structural Steel Services, Inc., operates five plants in Meridian and employs 220 workers, many of them longtime employees or the children of longtime employees. Dulaney serves as President and CEO. People are amazed when they discover that SSS has fabricated steel for industries in Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines. After doing extensive work in Southeast Asia in their early years, they have spent most of the last two decades focusing on industrial projects throughout the United States, with projects in nearly every state.

“While we do not currently have projects in Meridian or Lauderdale County, our employees, and their families, work here, live here, shop here and are educated here. We, therefore, support Meridian and Lauderdale County by giving back to our educational institutions, through scholarships and special program funding, and to our community arts institutions, and youth programs,” states Rebecca Combs-Dulaney, VP. “In other words, we invest in improving our local community.”

Structural Steel is proud to have been involved in many beneficial community projects over the years, Meridian Community College, Mississippi State University, local schools, the MSU Riley Center, The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience, the Boy Scouts, youth sports teams and many others.

“Our customers are long time partners. They keep coming back because we are dependable, reliable, produce a high-quality product and deliver on time,” adds Mrs. Combs-Dulaney. “Whether you are a new business or an established business, to stay in business, you must pay attention to the details, and deliver what you promise on time, every time. We are a member of EMBDC because we believe this partnership is valuable for the entire community, its businesses and its residents.”

Structural Steel Services has conducted business in this community for 46 years, employing many people and their families. They look forward to serving the Meridian & Lauderdale County community for many more years.
