Have you ever wondered what Congressman Sonny Montgomery did before being elected to the United States Congress in 1967? He sold insurance. Gillespie V. “Sonny” Montgomery started Montgomery Insurance Agency in 1949. Earl Aycock, Jr. and Fran Snowden’s mother, Mary, worked for Sonny. When he went to Washington, he sold half of the agency to Mary and her husband Earl, Sr., and it became Aycock & Montgomery Insurance. When Sonny kept getting re-elected and stayed in Washington, he sold them the other half, and it became Aycock Insurance Agency.
Fast forward to 2001 and several independent insurance companies decided to merge. Aycock Insurance Agency, Trest & Clopton, and Entrekin & Hough merged to become The Insurance Center of Meridian. Located at 2401 14th St., they offer commercial and personal insurance, including life, health, auto and home insurance. Everyone who works there is a licensed agent, which is a big plus, because the insurance business changes every day and agents have to stay on top of those changes. They continue to grow and now cover all areas of the state with offices in Vicksburg, Flowood, Oxford and Ocean Springs.
The Insurance Center enjoys serving our community with a personal touch. According to agent Bruce Clopton, “We want to serve the community. Even though we have become a larger agency, we still do things on a personal level.” As Mrs. Mary Aycock says about the insurance business: “You sell a
promise”…., and that’s it in a nutshell. “Our job is to get our clients back to where they were prior to a loss,” says Fran. “We promise to take care of you. We share the happiest and saddest moments of our clients’ lives, and walk with them every step of the way.”
Are you getting personal service from a qualified insurance agency? Have you ever wondered if you need flood insurance? Or if your insurance covers someone who borrows your car? The Insurance Center of Meridian has the answers! With hundreds of years of combined experience at their agency, they can answer all your insurance questions and help you protect the things that matter most! And as their client’s say, “It’s a great place to do business.”
