The Skin Cancer Clinic

“Hey, Doc, this thing on my skin; does it need to come off?”

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States; each year more than 3 million new cases are diagnosed.  1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70; sometimes by age 40.  There are more skin cancer diagnoses each year in the United States than all other cancers combined, including breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancer.

Dr. R Condon Hughes, III, established The Skin Cancer Clinic in November 2019.  On staff as a pathologist at Anderson Regional Medical Center since 2008, Dr. Hughes is a well-respected professional of the Meridian medical community.  He is a board-certified dermatopathologist, specializing in diagnosis of skin disorders.  He uses a technique called CiCLOPS, Confocal Imaged, Cellular Level, Optical Pathology Specimen, a non-invasive laser devise to examine your skin.

Although no referral is necessary, Dr. Hughes works with your primary care provider, your surgeon and your dermatologist to provide quality and comprehensive care for your skin. There is no double booking, no waiting to be seen and no waiting to receive the results of your evaluation.  If a biopsy is needed, it can be performed during the same visit and the biopsy results are available within two days. He knows the value of time and feels it’s a show of respect for patients to not have to wait. If a conventional biopsy is needed during the same visit, sent to the pathologist, and results are available within two days.

Judy and Condon Hughes have been in Meridian for over 10 years.  “We enjoy the fellowship, weather and hospitality that is characteristic of Meridian and East Mississippi,” states Dr. Hughes.  “We believe that a community thrives when patients, doctors, customers and businesses work together.  The Chamber offers a way to facilitate that cooperation.”

Dr. Hughes has a singular focus: to painlessly monitor for skin cancer. The Skin Cancer Clinic is the first and only clinic in Mississippi using the noninvasive CiCLOPS technique. So, there’s no reason to wait.  Call and set up your appointment, today!
