Improving your quality of life for more than 20 years!
Each person experiences pain differently. That’s why the team at Total Pain Care is comprised of an experienced group of multi-disciplinary professionals working together to develop a specific treatment plan for each patient’s needs. They provide leading edge pain management for a variety of conditions. Pain Management is a branch of medicine that applies science to the reduction of pain. It covers a wide spectrum of conditions, including neuropathic pain, sciatica, postoperative pain, cancer pain and so much more. Total Pain Care physicians recognize the complex nature of pain, and they approach the problem from all directions.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Kenneth Staggs and Dr. Eric Pearson, co-owners, have been leaders in advanced pain services. They are both double-board certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management ensuring patients receive the highest level of care. At Total Pain Care, they provide the most advanced pain services available from the latest X-ray guided therapies to cutting edge implantable surgeries.
In October 1995, Dr. Pearson came to Meridian to start the first pain treatment center in the Mississippi/Alabama area. Dr. Staggs joined the practice shortly after, in July, 1996. After serving patients in a hospital clinic setting for more than a decade, they saw the need in our area to reach a broader spectrum of patients and also to enhance the pain care options for their patients. In 2005, they opened a new facility and it became known as Total Pain Care. Since then, they have opened four other clinics in Mississippi.
“I really became passionate about pain management because it was an opportunity to work directly with patients. I am able to interact with them in a really unique way and ultimately help them have a better quality of life”, states Dr. Pearson.
“Pain Management” is defined as the treatment strategies used to reduce or reverse the effects of pain
in order to improve quality of life. Patients do not have to have a referral from a doctor. While a referral from a collaborating physician can be helpful, pain often strikes whether you’re ready for it or not, and you may not always be able to travel to a physician, wait for an MRI, obtain a referral, and then finally, get treatment.
Total Pain Care is an Ambulatory Surgery Center. An ASC is a facility where surgeries that do not require hospital admission are performed. ASC’s provide cost-effective services and a convenient environment. Patients can arrive on the day of their procedure, have their surgery in a fully equipped operating room and recover under the care of highly skilled nurses – all without hospital admission.
“As an interventional pain specialist at Total Pain Care, there is nothing more rewarding than to take a patient, see a patient, diagnose and treat them and relieve them of chronic pain!”, says Dr. Staggs. The mission of Total Pain Care is to reduce suffering, increase function and productivity, while promoting independence and a higher quality of life for their patients.
If you are thinking of opening your own business, Drs. Staggs and Pearson offer this advice; engage yourself in the community. Find opportunities to connect with new customers and other local businesses by attending local events, volunteering, or becoming a community board member. And join the chamber. The chamber is a vital part of creating a thriving community by bringing people together and working on the projects that improve our local economy, education, and overall community pride. The chamber is a community connector working for its long term success and growth.
