Quality is our Recipe
Wendy’s is best known for its made-to-order square hamburgers, using fresh, not frozen beef, freshly prepared salads, and other signature items like chili, baked potatoes and the Frosty® dessert. Last year, they added breakfast to their menu, and this has rapidly become a customer favorite. You can have a Baconator all day long!
Wendy’s was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbia, Ohio. Today, Wendy’s and its franchisees employ hundreds of thousands of people across more than 6,700 restaurants worldwide with a vision of becoming the world’s most thriving and beloved restaurant brand. How has Wendy’s become such a success? Besides their menu, in 1970, Dave introduced the first modern drive through to the world, calling it the “Pick-Up Window”. Thomas’ daughter said in an interview that because customers were unfamiliar with the process and had trouble understanding cashiers over the speakers, she often had to run outside and take orders with a pad and pen. Over 50 years later, that simple window is the dominant method of food ordering, accounting for two-thirds of fast-food sales.
One unique quality of Wendy’s is their commitment to doing the right thing and making a positive difference in the lives of others. This is most visible through the Company’s support of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® and its signature Wendy’s Wonderful Kids® program, which seeks
to find every child in the North American foster care system a forever home. Since 2004, more than 8,000 foster children have been placed in loving homes.
Martha Ulmer, Field Marketing Coordinator says, “Without a doubt, it is the vibrance of the Meridian/Lauderdale County community and the people which make doing business here such an honor and pleasure. The highest compliment a guest can ever give us is when they say, ‘This is my Wendy’s. When a customer takes personal ownership of a brand/company, it’s the ultimate and most authentic type of endorsement. We enjoy being an active and visible member of the community, and we are grateful and blessed to have been embraced by the community as we have been here. We belong to the chamber because its important to not only show support for the community, but it allows you to keep your finger on the pulse of things locally.”
Over 500 Americans were polled on which fast food restaurant they believe has the best quality beef and Wendy’s won the top spot. Even though Wendy’s menu consists primarily of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries, and beverages, the most ordered item is their chili! The square hamburgers are good, but the Homestyle Chicken Sandwich, has been voted best sandwich. And the Frosty®, well, to answer how good it is, 300 million are sold each year. (We hear a Frosty’s® cereal is coming soon!) So, the final verdict says Wendy’s has the best fast food. It has better patties, fresher toppings, more reliable fries, and chili that passes for homemade. Just look what’s painted on the side of their buildings; Quality is our Recipe!
